Granite City Comic Con 2019

Granite City Comic-Con is back! Following our extended Summer break we’re excited to bring not one but two announcements to you all!

As most of you know, GCCC is a non-profit team of Geeks and Freaks that started out from a small family of hardcore nerds from in and around Aberdeen. To this day, the event is still pulled together by the volunteers from back in 2015 at Transition Extreme when we were just testing the waters out in our hometown, and boy you did not disappoint and we work hard every year to repay your unbelievable support for GCCC.

We have always tried to be about promoting all that is cool about our “not so” alternative culture and bringing awesome stuff to our hometown for the local fans. Since year one you guys have helped us to bring huge stars, awesome props and costumes, comic book talent galore, so many activities, once in a lifetime panels, and the ability to showcase the unbelievable local Cosplay talent at its best! (and we really mean that!)

Our fourth convention in 2018 had us embark on very new territory which included a much larger venue with its own set of challenges. Whilst this enabled us to put on an arguably bigger and more elaborate event for all the attendees, it felt like a step away from the original core values that we envisioned from the start. With that being said, we’re delighted to announce that Granite City Comic-Con 2019 will return to the DoubleTree by Hilton Aberdeen Treetops on Springfield road Aberdeen. TeamGCCC are really looking forward to collaborating with the Hotel again to ensure that we bring the best event to Aberdeen that we can.

This will allow us to reap the benefits of working with such a brilliant team and allow us at TeamGCCC to provide the best possible experience for our fans and newcomers alike.

Our second announcement for Granite City Comic-Con is that the event will be held on Saturday 24th August 2019! That’s right, it’s slightly later in the year and it’s also being condensed into a single day. So fear not if you thought you missed out on previous years by only being able to attend a single day, we’re ensuring that GCCC2019 is going to be a day to remember!

We are already planning more workshops, more cosplay content, more creators, more interaction, more involvement for the fans, more awesome creative guests and panels you will never see outside of GCCC.

Please stay tuned here on facebook and our other social media channels to ensure you don’t miss out on future updates. Vendor, exhibitor, guest and ticket information will be forthcoming in the upcoming weeks and months…

Halloween Party!

It’s October, so that can only mean one thing – HALLOWEEN TIME! This year we’ll be hosting not one, but two parties to sink your vampire teeth into! Both will be held on 3rd November at the Tunnels on Carnegie Brae.

Our first event is for families with younger children – kicking off at 3.30pm and winding down at 5.30pm; ideal if parents are looking for a wee party straight after school. We’ll have face-painting, a junior costume contest and a matinee performance from Darth Elvis & The Imperials £3 for adults on the door, kids go free!

Our evening show starts at 7.30pm and again features entertainment from fan-favourites DARTH ELVIS & THE IMPERIALS, fresh from their storming performance at Bloodstock this summer.

We’ll also have the usual Halloween fun – cosplay dance-off and rockin’ righteous creepy tunes til late. £7 on the door.

Guest Portrait - Cos Con

The cosplay marquee makes a return with a repair station for any last minute fixes. Panels, Q&As, Practical Demos and Workshops will be held throughout the course of the event.
Our popular “Boast Board” will be back on both days which will allow attendees the opportunity to show their appreciation to all those who have come along in cosplay and will have one person crowned as the “People’s Choice” on both Saturday and Sunday.Of course, we will be hosting a cosplay masquerade on the Sunday afternoon for all those who want to get up on stage and show off their costumes in front of a large audience.

The masquerade will lead us into the culmination of everyone’s hard work over the past few weeks and months – The Cosplay Championship! Our Sunday afternoon will come to a close showing off the best of the best in a friendly contest to see whose cosplay wins the hearts and minds of both the audience and our judges.

All details regarding the guidelines, policies and pre-registration for the Cosplay Championship will be announced shortly. With a full event schedule to follow.
